a general guide. It can be adapted to meet specific state and local require ments. Copies soon will be sent to all constituent and component dental soci eties. It would be helpful if representatives of the medical and dental societies, parent-teacher associations and state health and education departments dis cussed implementing the program on state and local levels. Although it is a PTA program, any one of the groups could contact the others to set up a state conference. Each state organization could, in turn, notify its local components of the conference’s intentions. In part, the difficulty seems to be get ting medical and dental groups, volun
tary health agencies and health and edu cation representatives to meet with PTA representatives locally. Dental societies can take the leadership in bringing these groups together. At the least, they can contact the appropriate Parent-Teacher Association representatives to tell them that dental societies are ready to co operate. The Continuous Health Supervision Program provides a good opportunity for interesting the schools and the community in the children’s health. Dental societies should cooperate in all school health pro grams, regardless of whether dental health is being studied. Opportunities will present themselves to develop programs for improved dental health.
