Letter to the Editor Swine flu and effect on blood glucose Emerging of swine flu is a big topic in the present medicine. This problem is focused around the world for fear of global pandemic. The effect of this new variant influenza infection on blood glucose has never been reported. For another atypical influenza virus infection, bird flu, there are some evidences on its effect on blood glucose [1]. According to the present evidence, there is no data on the effect of swine flu on blood glucose. Indeed, if we believed that swine flu is only a variant of H1N1 classical influenza virus infection, no serious effect on blood glucose can be expected. However, the topic should be the worse course of infection in the diabetic patients.
