extremely large incoherent n e u t r o n scattering cross section, enabling one to d e t e r m i n e in a fairly straightforward m a n n e r the m o t i o n of the proton. T h e intrinsic magnetic m o m e n t of the n e u t r o n has been used to d e t e r m i n e the properties of m a g n e t i c systems. Specialized conferences have been devoted to this topic a n d this section contains just five papers suggesting the kinds of information obtainable concerning the m a g n e t i c properties of materials. T h e final section entitled E x p e r i m e n t a l M e t h o d s actually consists of three papers dealing with n e u t r o n spectrometers, a discussion of the Brookhaven H i g h Flux Reactor, the D u b n a Pulsed Reactor a n d a n interesting p a p e r on the use of optical spectroscopy to d e t e r m i n e

the properties of solids a n d liquids. T h e excellent s u m m a r y of the symposium by Egelstaff is likewise included here. Active workers in the field of low energy n e u t r o n scattering could hardly lind more convenient collections of research papers by their colleagues. For the non-specialist interested in finding out how information deduced from n e u t r o n scattering m i g h t c o m p l e m e n t his own particular interests, the review papers contained, for example, in " T h e r m a l Neutron Scattering," P.
