that the H-D exchange process in this case is very slow, a phenomenon that has been recently reported for imidazolium-based room temperature ionic liquids.[20],[21] In any case, this is an interesting

RI

A series of 16 protic ionic liquids (PILs) have been synthesized and characterized. The studied PILs show biodegradability levels between 41-64% (BOD5 method). PILs possessing the cyclopentane carboxylate anion are not toxic to A.sallina. Tg and viscosity data provide evidence that the studied PILs exhibit fragile behaviour.
