Abacus to star in European Show Abacus Computers Ltd have just successfully completed negotiations with the Show Financial Corporation of Texas, by which Show have purchased a substantial shareholding in Abacus. One of the first results of the Show involvement will be the launch of a major computer peripherals distribution business by Abacus. According to Wayne Stockseth, the President of the Show Financial Corporation, Abacus Computers will diversify into totally new markets and become the focal point for all Show Financial's activities in Europe. He sees Abacus developing its own European sales network and later going into the manufacture of computer systems based on the $100 bus.
Zilog triples fabrication capacity Zilog Inc have opened a manufacturing facility in Nampa, Idaho, USA that will more than triple the company's semiconductor wafer fabrication capacity. It is Zilog's first US facility outside California. The first of two semiconductor wafer fabrication modules built into the new plant is being opened for initial production; it will employ 80 workers by the end of 1979. Within several years between 600 and 700 persons will be employed at the plant.

Taking stock Celdis Microsystems of Reading now have Motorola's MC6809 in stock. They also have the new EXORciser development system, based on the MC6809 CPU and containing the latest debug module, plus the user
system evaluator MEX6809USE. To complete this latest package a new double-sided floppy disc giving 1 Mbyte of storage has been introduced. Existing users of 6800 processors can upgrade their EXORciser development systems to meet the 6809 specification by means of the MC6809 conversion kit. Celdis will also stock the entire range of National Semiconductor Series/80 products. This includes a range of board level computers (BLC) which are plug compatible with their Intel SBC counterparts. The whole Series/80 range is Multibus compatible. In addition, the BLC range includes proprietary products of completely new design. The Starplex general purpose microcomputer development system is available immediately. Intel's DMA controllers, 8237 and 8237-2, are now available from Rapid Recall of Wooburn Green. The controllers are intended for use with both Intel 8085A and 8088 microcomputer systems, which ar~ also available from Rapid Recall.
