Abstract SESSION TITLE: Bronchoscopy and Interventional Procedures Posters II SESSION TYPE: Original Investigation Poster PRESENTED ON: Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 01:30 PM - 02:30 PM PURPOSE: We report an unusual and rare occurrence of tension pneumothorax of left lung with simultaneous presence of collapse of right lung in a post-operative neurosurgical patient. Timely detection and prompt intervention by doing intercostal tube drainage and bronchoscopy could save the life of the patient. METHODS: It is a case report. RESULTS: Timely intervetion and vigilance make the difference in the outcome . CONCLUSIONS: Tension pneumothorax and collapse of lung in ICU settings are common occurences.Peculairity of our case lies in the fact that both these conditions were present simultaneously which led to the confusion initially but timely detection by doing urgent bronchoscopy settled the issue and we could save the life of patient. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: It brings to the fore that timely intervention matters a lot. In India Medical scenario is little different particularly in Tier- 3 cities where all the medical facilities are not available under one roof. We have to take the help of our colleagues who are not working in the same hospital, sometimes at odd hours.
