The 13th International Congress on Mesomechanics will take place at the University of Padova, Vicenza, Italy. Abstracts are now being sought for sessions which will be organized to cover most areas of Mesomechanics. The main objective of Mesomechanics 2011 is to provide a comprehensive global forum for researchers to present their discoveries and findings in mechanics. It aims to seek a common ground for the physicists, chemists, biologists, mechanists, and researchers in other disciplines for tackling the pressing problems of the 21st century. They may include environmental issues, ecological vulnerability, disaster prevention, effective use of resources, energy efficiencies, and the development of effective physical models. To this end, knowledge sustainability and economical affordability need to be emphasized. Members of different industries and scientists from all over the world are invited to contribute with presentations on any of the following suggested topics, though not limited to others of related nature:                

Energy absorption and dissipation Strain energy density: local and global Space-time scale effect Singularities: stress and energy density Interface of the small and large bodies Three-dimensional effects Continuum mechanics Micromechanics Atomistic modeling Tensegrity: cell structure and function Reproducibility, and adaptability Natural selection and sequence Aggregation behavior Evolution, genetics mutation Hierarchy: natural vs. human invention Nanomechanics

This Conference follows the Conferences Meso 2010, held in Taipei, Taiwan and Meso2009 held in Oxford. Special issues of international journals have been devoted to work presented at those Conferences (Procedia Engineering, vol. 1, 2009). The application of physics, mechanics, and mathematics will be emphasized to better understand the challenges in science and technology. Commonality and dissimilarity between mechanical and biological systems can be used to develop more effective physical models to enhance the efficiency and economy of food production while maintaining natural life support processes. An excellent selection of papers will be anticipated. You are encouraged to participate in the conference and to submit an abstract. The deadline is December 15th, 2011. A maximum of 300 words and can be uploaded in the conference web-site or sent by e-mail to: [email protected]
