Conference report

The 16th Regional Congress of Dermatology l-5 October 1996, Antalya, Turkey A total 5 10 dermatologists and 170 accompanying persons attended the conference. The opening ceremony took place in the Dedeman Hotel on October 1st with a speech by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Gurer, President of the Congress, who is Head of the Department of Dermatology as well as Dean of the Gazi University School of Medicine. The scientific sessions took place in the Dedeman Hotel. The program consisted of two guest lecturers, 2 satellite symposia, 4 workshops, panels, communications, clinical cases and poster presentations. The guest lectures were: ‘Archives of Dermatopathology: Last Three Years’ by Prof. Dr. G.S. Lever and ‘Neuropeptides’ by Prof. Dr. T. Lotti.

The congress was organized by Gazi University and included courses on Dermatoscopy, Computers in Dermatology, Skin Tumors and a Residents’ Educational Symposium illustrating actual techniques and with a high educational emphasis. Antalya is a city on the Mediterranean Sea with a wonderful climate; it is worth visiting to see numerous aspects of Turkish history nearby. The highlight of the social program was the cultural evening held at the Hotel Dedeman in this lovely city. We hope that in the future, a EADV congress will be held in Turkey.
