A druggist in Baltimore, medicine for a child from a prescription. The child took a dose, and died instantly. The druggist, on being remonstrated with, declared that he had made no mistake, and was so confident in his accuracy, that he swallowed a portion of the medicine, and in five minutes he was a corpse. On analyzing the mixture, it appeared that it consisted 01 prussic acid sufficient in quantity to kill fifty persons. BY

SIR,-When too late to notify you of the fact, I discovered the egregious blunder I had committed in my reading of the preamble of Art. 178. On referring to mv letter in last week’s LANCET, you will notice that my second reason is founded on a sense diametrically opposed to the real one, and that I have been, most unaccountably, arguing as if the word " except" had not been there staring me in the face. To recover his claim on my second ground, Dr. Ody must therefore be able to show that the amputation of a finger was for a sudden accident immediately threatening life."
