The Artois-Baillet Latour Health Prize 1987

The 1987 Artois-Baillet Latour Health Prize will be awarded in recognition of: 'An outstanding contribution to the knowledge of the neuropeptides, their role in the physiopathology of the human being and their therapeutic properties'. The value of the prize, to be awarded in the first half of 1987, will befive million Belgian francs (5 000 000 BF). The Prize is awarded to persons working in the field of scientific research and/or its practical applications. The Prize will recognize the scientific merit of the winner and should assist him or her in the pursuit of his or her work. Exceptionally, the Prize may be shared by two persons who have completed their project in common. Candidates to the Prize may be of Belgian or foreign nationality. They may not have previously received a Prize rewarding the work which they are submitting for the Artois-Baillet Latour Health Prize. The Executive Committee may waive this rule. The candidate must be proposed by a person duly qualified to appreciate his/her work. This person must provide signed justification of his support in the form of a memorandum giving full details of the candidate's merits and any prizes and distinctions he or she may have received. No more than two persons, who have collaborated in the same work may be nominated. The memorandum will be drawn up in English and will, in addition, demonstrate that the work of the candidate(s) is revelant to the area selected for the Prize. Two photographs of the candidate(s) must be attached. Nominations for the 1987 Prize must reach the Secretary of the National Fund for Scientific Research, rue d'Egrnont 5, B-1050 Brussels, Belgium, before July 1st, 1986, and must be marked 'Confidential'.
