THE EFFECT OF EXERCISE AND HYPOXEMIA STRESS ON THE CATECHOLAMINES IN CORONARYSINUS AND ARTERIAL PLASMA IN MAN. N. Kishima, K. Kondo, H, Hamada, T. Ishihara, T. Miyagi, T. Kishimoto, A. Imaoka, I. Sano, A. Terauchi, H. Akioka, I. Seki. lst, Dept. Int. Med. Osaka Medical College, Takatsuki, Japan. K. Nakamura. Nippon Roche Research C. Aortic and coronary sinus epinephrine(E) and norepinephrin(NE) were measured by radioenzymatic assay(after Da.Prada.) in 25 patients. By exercise test, arterial NE was increased from 195.8k57.3 pg/ml to 413.6* 207.0 pg/ml, and myocardial NE extraction was decreased from -6.4k66.3 pg/ml to -259.9*236.2 pg/ml, however arterial E and myocardial E extraction were not changed. Contrary, by hypoxemia test, arterial NE and myocardial E extraction were not changed, but arterial E was increased from 93.0f 25.2 pg/ml to 347.0f 285.1 pg/ml, and myocardial NE extraction was decreased from 232.0f 389.0 pg/ml to 3.67* 336.7 pg/ml. Hence, it was suggested that in exercise, sympathetic nerve stimulation was generally occured, hut in hypoxemia, the response of adrenal grand was took place specifically, on the other hand, for the heart muscle the both stress induced equally the sympathetic nerve excitation.

22 THE EFFECTS OF COENZYMEQ 10 ON THE ADRIAMYCIN - INDUCED H. Maeno, CARDIOMYOPATHY. N. Takeda, K. Takahashi, M. Shiozaki, K. Kaito, T. Okubo, M. Nagano. Department of Internal Medicine, Jikei University, Tokyo, Japan The effects of Coenzyme QlO (Co 0) on the adriamycin (ADR)-induced cardiomyopathy were studied in cardiac contractile protein. Wistar male rats were used in this study. ADR was given i.p. 0.5mg/kg a day, 5 days a week, for 6 weeks. Co Q was also given i.p. lOmg/kg a day immediately after the injection of ADR. Myosin B was prepared from heart muscle of rats and its ATPase activity was determined. Superprecipitation of myosin B was measured by Ebashi's method and the stoichiometry of subunits of cardiac contractile protein was determined by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Myosin B ATPase activity of heart muscle treated by both ADR and Co Q was higher than that treated by ADR alone. We also studied alterations of subunit composition and changes of superprecipitation of myosin B. CoQinhibited botb the increase of heavy chain component of myosin B and the decrease of actin induced by ADR.Co Q seems to have some role in the Prevention of the cardiotoxic effects of ADR.
