The author of this landmark publication is Professor of Political Science and Statistics at Yale University (U.S.A.) and has obviously worked closely with his publishers to present examples which illustrate and complement the text. The subject is divided simply into two parts. Part I, Graphical Practice, covers Graphical Excellence and Graphical Integrity with Sources of Graphical Sophistication. Part II covers the Theory of Data Graphics by very extensive reproduction of graphical data and its presentation format to demonstrate the concept in consideration. The examples are taken from an amazing range of subjects, profusely produced, some in colour, and end with a chapter on Aesthetics and Techniques. There are copious references throughout and an Index is provided.
