A research scholarship, up to a maximum of £3,000 per annum, is to be offered to appropriately qualified candidates who conform to the following regulations and who are judged by the Council of the Forensic Science Society, through the Professional Awards Committee, to be worthy of such a scholarship. 1. The Scholarship is open to members of the Society who wish to undertake research in forensic science, legal, medicine, or crime investigation based on scientific methods. Candidates should have a first or upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification in terms of certification. However, relevant experience and expertise on extensive practice may also qualify an applicant for consideration for the award. 2. The Scholarship will be awarded to a suitable candidate on a yearly basis but this may be extended to a maximum period of three years. After the first year of an award, an extension will only be considered on submission of a satisfactory report of not less than 1,500 words on the work undertaken during the period of the Scholarship. The Editor of Science & Justice (The Society's journal) must be given first refusal on publication of your research. Failure to do so could result in the Society requesting a full refund of the fees paid by the Society.
