ANNOUNCEMENT THE GOLDEN ANTIBODY IMMUNOLOGY AWARD Research and teaching form the cornerstones of science. Forever new ideas and an unquenched thirst for knowledge are the forces that drive it on. Pluralistic methods in applied sciences encourage the creative mind to explore new horizons thus adding previously unknown dimensions. Progressive thinking opens up possibilities and challenges for renewal and innovation. Medicine is a case in point. Scientists and physicians are continually searching for and developing new diagnostic and therapeutic methods through a process of hypothesis and experience. Invitation to nominations o f candidates Nominations for the award are invited in 1990/1991 for the first time on the occasion of the II International Expert Forum "Immune-Training" in order to promote the aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic benefits in the important field of immunology. Further awards are planned to follow every other year. The prize will be awarded to outstanding scientific contributions that have appeared in professional publications or in other media. The proposed subject is immunology in its broadest context including diagnosis, prophylaxis and therapy as well as immunopharmacology. Submitted papers should highlight particularly innovative performances or future-oriented developments and should have been published in English or German during the time between 1 July 1990 and 31 December 1991 at the latest. Theme 1990/1991 "Information on diseases and the fight against them through immunological diagnosis and therapy." Endowment The prize is endowed with a total sum of DM 20,000 and may be shared by several individuals. The award may be suspended by resolution of the jury. Jury and award The recipient of the award will be chosen on the recommendation of the members of the scientific advisory board at Schwarzwald Sanatorium Obertal. It is left to the board's discretion to designate several recipients who will share the prize. Legal proceedings are excluded. The prize will be awarded on the occasion of the International Expert Forum "Immune-Training" to be held every 2 years.
