THE HELIOS ORBIT EVALUATION EXPERIMENT, AND ASPECTS FOR FUTURE MISSIONS (ABSTRACT).t W. KUNDT Institut far Astrophysik der Universit~it Bonn, F.R.G.

(Received 26 September 1978) Abstract--This experiment is now nearing its completion. A sensitive and rather flexible filter algorithm has been developed at Hamburg for the joint determination of a large number (~<30) of solve-for and consider parameters describing the changing forces on the spacecraft. Its action has been described in[12]. The major source of uncertainty in this and earlier spacecraft orbit evaluations is the changing surface absorptivity, which may be due to a partial phase transition in the cover glass. In view of this dimculty, dragfree missions are highly desirable; see Ref. 1. REFERENCES
