We present a patient aged 60 with erythematous facial lesions, itching, purulent collections and blepharitis. These lesions persisted after treatment with antibiotics and steroids. We performed skin scraping by facial lesions, samples which were clarified in paraffin oil and examined by optical microscopy. We also carried out the DTM insemination and bacteriological examination from purulent collections. Microscopic examination confirmed the presence of two species of Demodex mites in skin scraping, eyelashes and eyebrows. The dermatophytes were absent. We isolated bacterian flora (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus) from purulent collections. We recommended local and general antibiotics (according to antibiogram) for 2 weeks and then we applied acaricide treatment, locally. By these, we ittend to highlight the resolution of clinical signs after acaricide treatment and we recognized two species of Demodex mites (Demodex folliculorum and D. brevis) the cause of blepharitis and facial dermatitis refractory of treatment with antibiotics and steroids.
A recent study in normotensive subjects showed that a 10 min submaximal opening of the mouth, obtained by a Special-Device placed between the upper and lower incisors, induces a significant and long-lasting reduction of both systemic arterial blood pressure and cardiac frequency rate. It has been demonstrated that this phenomenon is produced by proprioceptive stimulation of the trigeminal nerve through the activation of the vagus nerve, as suggested by previous evidences, where various surgical manipulations performed in the facial regions led to hypotension and bradycardia (trigeminal–cardiac reflex, TCR). The experimental TCR induction by using the Spring-Device (SP-D) (Asa-Dental, Lucca, Italy) started with a gauge to measure the maximum opening of the mouth before subjecting the patient to stretch. SP-D was applied according to different protocols. Recordings on posturometric and stabilometric platform (Lizard, Como, Italy) have been carried out. In athletes subjected to high intensity workout the application of SP-D resulted in a significant improvement in the time of performance and in a more rapid and effective recovery after the training, as evaluated by lactic acid levels. Also in the cyclists subjected to endurance the use of SP-D has improved the performance and reduced the values of the cardiac parameters.

[email protected] (L. Koybasova). Actual problem of modern medicine is toxic hepatitis. However, there is little information about the effects of toxic hepatitis on functions of the lymphatic system. The research was conducted on laboratory rats. The first group – the control group, the second group received i/v 0.3 ml of a 50% oil solution of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) 3 days. The third group received 7 days sodium selenite (selenium asset) per os with water at a dose of 1.25 g/l and intramuscularly ␣-tocopherol oil solution (1.5 mg/kg) then i/v 0.3 ml/100 g of 50% oil solution of CCl4 on the above scheme and tyre – tread substance for 21 days. In the rats of group II there was an increase of bilirubin and total blood thymol, reducing of the urea, creatinine, increase in ALT and AST levels in the blood of 3–5, indicating the occurrence of hepatotoxicity. Thus, the development of toxic hepatitis on a background of tyre-tread substances is

[email protected] (M. Erdogan). Ring chromosome 6 is a very rare chromosomal disorder that typically arises de novo. The first case has been described in 1973. About 25 cases have been reported to date. The phenotype is highly variable ranging from normal to severe defect such as physical and mental retardation, cardiac, ocular, auricular and central nervous system anomalies. Most common findings of these conditions are hydrocephaly, mental retardation, dysmorphic facial features (micrognathia, microphthalmia, epicanthus, low set ears, broad and flat nasal bridge) congenital heart defects, seizure, limb and joint malformations. We report here a 4 year old patient with karyotype 46,XX, r(6) [48]/45,XX,-6[2] and congenital heart defect, ocular finding (bilateral chorioretinal atrophy) and mental retardation.
