PUBLIC HEALTH.
At a meeting of the Council of the Group held previously it was agreed that the proposal of Dr. :Ernest Ward to alter Article 19 (d) of the proposed Articles of Association of the Society should receive the full approval of the Group.

The annual meeting of this Group was held at Bristol, on July 12th, 1934, tlie President occupying the chair. Twenty-six members were present. Barker (Medical Officer of Health, Ilkeston), in opening a discussion on two cases of appeal to the county and higher courts under the Housing Act, 1930, gave .details of the properties concerned and the steps followed by his authority. Drs. ttorsburgh, Geffen, Wilson, Corfield, Dupont, Gibbons Ward, Symons and Brocklehurst contributed to the discussion, and Dr. Barker, who was warmly thanked for his paper, replied to the points raised.

A meeting of the Joint T.uberculosis Council was held at the house of the Society of Medical Officers of Health on May 26th, 1934, Dr. S. Vere Pearson occupying the chair. Nineteen members were present. The Chairman expressed regret that Dr. Lissant Cox was unable to be present owing to a temporary indisposition. Vere Pearson. The prevention of human tuberculosis of bovine origin was considered, and after discussion a committee--consisting of Professor

Sutherlankl--was appointed " to study and report upon the milk supply in reference to the promotion of health and the prevention of disease, especially tuberculosis." The Committee was allowed power to. add to their number as seemed desirable to them. On behalf of the Pneumothorax Committee, Dr. Trail reported that the Medical Research Co.uncil had made a grant up to J~200. The final memorandum would be submitted to. the Medical Research Council, who would be entitled to publish it if they so desired. The action of the committee was approved. Tlie Council decided to appoint a committee-consisting of Dr. Ernest Ward (Convener), with Drs. F. VV. Goodbody, D. P. Sutherland, J. C.Gilchrist, G. T. Hebert, G. Jessel, W. Burton Wood and L. S. T. Burrell--" to consider and report on the examination of contacts, and the discovery of early or latent tuberculosis, especially among adolescents." This committee also was empowered to add to their number
