With this issue, the JOURNAL celebrates its fiftieth anniversary by publishing Merrill Chase’s reminiscences of Dr. Robert A. Cooke and Dr. Arthur F. Coca, Max Samter’s exciting and speculative essay on the next 50 years, and Sheldon Cohen’s history of the American Academy of Allergy and its JOURNAL. more original research articles, but we have grown to the point where we need special reviews summarizing a field and bringing the excitement of laboratory discoveries to clinicians’ attention in an understandable way so that these discoveries can be promptly exploited for our patients ’ benefit.
