The Microscope is an international journal dedicated to the advancement of light, electron, X-ray, biological, metallographic, mineralogical or chemical microscopy. This issue of the journal endeavors to bring the reader up-to-date on automatic image analysis with particular emphasis on its biological applications. It includes an extensive bibliography and author index, as well as six review articles.
