He will begin his subject with an historical perspective, classify the causes of malabsorption and outline the approach to the patient with malabsorption. The most common malabsorptive states and the general aspects of these disorders will be discussed. He will show how, in most situations, the exact diagnosis can be made readily and specific therapy, usually dietary in nature, can be initiated before secondary complications become manifest.
