T H E P R E S I D E N T I A L CHAIR THE new Presidential Chair, the generous and greatly appreciated gift of the Australasian College of Radiologists, has arrived safely and is now in use. It is a source of great admiration and interest to all Fellows and Members of the Faculty. This arm-chair is of Queensland Maple, the stuffed high back and seat being covered in maroon leather. The tall back is elaborately carved and pierced

in leaf design which is interrupted at the top by a shield to carry the crest of the Faculty. The arms on square baluster supports are extended forwards and terminate in rams' heads, a welcome symbol of the countries of origin of this gift, while the legs of square baluster design are supported by turned ball feet and connected by a shaped X-stretcher surmounted by a central turned finial. The chair is well proportioned and attractive in design, giving an impression of great dignity, and the wood is of pleasing colour and texture. The Faculty are most grateful to their colleagues in Australia and New Zealand for such a beautiful and well-chosen gift. i6
