The rational design of machine guards (In German)
fishermen. Sections are devoted to: genera I provisions; navigat ton ; safer y of the vegsel;safety on deck;safety in fishing operations; safety in machinery spaces and of mechanical equipment : special safety precautions relating to eye protection, protective clothing and equipment, pamting, hazardous tasks, liver and fish boilers; life-saving appliances; fire prevention and firefighting; crew facilities (samtatmn, lighting and ventilation, first aid, condit ions of employment ) ; abandoning ship, survival and rescue. Four appendices cover: information required in danger messages; radiotelephone procedures; methods of artlfical respiration; and a list of relevant international instruments. Standardisation of lighting could eliminate variations both within and between mines.
