The Sixth International Conference on Engineering Failure Analysis - Part 2

Welcome to the second special issue of the Sixth International Conference on Engineering Failure Analysis (ICEFA-6). We are pleased to provide you with a number of selected papers presented at the conference that was held on the 6th to 9th July 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel in the beautiful city of Lisbon in Portugal. Sponsored by Elsevier Science and Engineering Failure Analysis, the Conference brought together leading workers in the field of failure analysis, structural integrity and related studies, with delegates attending from around the world. Topics in the conference programme covered a wide range of issues in the arena of Engineering Failure Analysis. Our conference is now well established in the calendar and we feel it remains a valuable forum for discussion of important issues in the topic between engineering failure analysis practitioners, academics and other people interested in the use of engineering failure analysis. 2014 was the 20th anniversary of the first issue of the journal. To mark this occasion, Dr. Dai Jones presented a keynote address providing an entertaining overview of the last 20 years of the journal and we dedicated the conference dinner as a celebration of the first 20 years of the journal. In 2012 in The Hague, we began presenting workshops at the conference and continued this in 2014. We would like to thank the workshop presenters, Granta Design, for their excellent workshops on materials selection and design. On behalf of the scientific and organizing committees, we would like to thank all participants for their contribution to the Conference. In particular we would like to express our thanks to the keynote speakers, session chairs, authors and delegates who all helped to make ICEFA-6 such a success. Particular thanks must also go to the team at Elsevier, whose considerable organizational efforts ensured that the Conference was both a smooth running and a rewarding experience for all those taking part. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you at the Seventh International Conference on Engineering Failure Analysis in Leipzig in 2016.
