Preface

The themed issue in honor of Prof. Yoshihisa Inoue for his contribution on molecular and supramolecular photochemistry

It is with great sincerity we thank all the authors for their support and contributions to felicitate Professor Yoshihisa Inoue on the occasion of his retirement from Osaka University with a special issue to highlight his many accomplishments in photochemistry, in particular supramolecular photochirogenesis. In the summer of 2015, we decided to honor Prof. Inoue and invited many of his colleagues and friends who has interacted with Prof. Inoue over the years. In addition, we also invited many of the authors who contributed to the previous special issue in Photochem. Photobiol. Sci. in 2011, originally intended to commemorate Prof. Inoue’s contributions to photochemistry, which eventually changed the focus on the Japanese photochemistry who suffered from the Tohoku earthquake. The response to our invitations was very passionate and our colleagues’ 33 contributions are included in this special issue. We thank you all for your valuable contributions to this issue, which

not only features terrific sciences but also highlights the diversity of topics in the field of photochemistry. As guest editors we would like to thank the J. Photochem. Photobiol. A: Chemistry and Professor Jayaraman Sivaguru for his support and understanding while this special issue was compiled. Last but not the least, we want to thank Prof. Inoue for his generous support and encouragement, which he continues to provide that has helped us be superior scientists.
