The attention of prospective participants is drawn to the fact that this series of Conferences is unusual in that there are no formal presentations. Instead, each group, with its own background paper published in advance. will be conducted on a seminar-type. basis. This is to facilitate the richest possible exchange across cultural and disciplinary boundaries. Although there will be no formal presentations, anyone wishing to submit papers may do so and it will be for the relevant section to decide which, if any, of these papers will be considered in detail. All material submitted will be automatically considered for subsequent publication. 25 copies should be supplied by July 1st. The language of the Conference will be English. A variety of accommodation is available at reasonable prices, including self-catering flats and normal university study bedrooms. There will be an opportunity to visit the Edinburgh International Festival on Wednesday August 24th with transport provided. The registration fee is f95 ($200).
