RESEARCH AND APPLICATION OF INORGANIC ION EXCHANGER MATERIALS IN THE TREATMENT OF RADIOACTIVE LIQUID WASTES, pp. l-10, Li Kai Jun, Institute of Atomic Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences This paper briefly surveys the research and application in China and abroad of inorganic ion exchanger materials: alumino-silicates, oxides, phosphates, adsorbers for radioactive nuclides. The effects of concentration, pH and temperature on distribution coefficients and decontamination factors are discussed. CHARACTERISTICS OF POLYSULFONE HOLLOW FIBER ULTRAFILTRATION MEMBRANES ON CASTING, pp. 11-14 Xu Xieqing, Shanghai Xin Hua Separation Technology Research Institute Hollow fiber ultrafiltration (HF-UF) membranes were made from polysulfones (PS). Casting (spinning) conditions, construction of the mold, composition of the casting solution and physicochemical characteristics for PS-HF-UF membranes are discussed. A scanning electron microscope was used to investigate morphology of the membranes. DRY CELLULOSE ACETATE (CA) REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANES REINFORCED WITH POLYESTER FABRIC AND CAST BY MACHINE, pp. 15-19 Liu Yu-rong, Lang Kang-min, Chen Yi-ming and Cai Bang-xiao, Second of Oceanography, National Institute Bureau of Oceanography, Hangzhou
This paper discusses mainly the process of producing three types of dry CA reverse osmosis membranes (CA,,, , CA,,, , CACTA,,,) by a casting machine. The effects of the conditions for producing dry membranes and of the different support materials on membrane performance are given. Dry storage of the three membrane types and their performance are briefly introduced. THERMODYNAMICS OF QUATERNARY AMMONIUM HOFFMANN THERMAL DEGRADATION, pp. 20-22 Qian Yaonan, Li Dong and Jiang Weida, The Second Institute of Oceanography, National Bureau of Oceanography, Hangzhou This paper discusses the effect of crosslinking on the equation constant and the ratio of two methods of quaternary ammonium Hoffmann thermal degradation. THE ADSORPTION CHARACTERISTICS FOR THE VARIOUS METAL IONS IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS USING ACTIVATED CARBON FIBER VNACF, pp. 23-26 Zeng Hanmin and Fu Ruowen, Polymer Research Institute, Zhongshan University The adsorption characteristics of activated carbon fiber VNACF for the various metal ions (especially Hg*+) in aqueous solutions have been investigated. The results showed that, compared with the power or granular activated carbon used, the activated carbon fiber VNACF may adsorb some metal ions and have a better
