Safety in Road and Rail 'I~m-els

This firstinternational conference is organized and sponsored by Independent Technical Conferences Ltd., University of I)undee, and co-sponsored by A S H R A E . The conference will provide a forum for the latestresearch and developments in vehicle and t.~innelsafety technology and communications. It will embrace all aspects of safety during routine operation as well as response to incidents. Particular attention will be paid to the integration of safety procedures and to development of effectiveinterfacesbetween all parties involved in responding to incidents. The overall aim ofthe conference isto promote protectionby design, prevention by monitoring and control, and response by plan. The conference will be of particular interest to owners and operators; consulting engineers; emergency services, tunnel, vehicle and equipment designers and manufacturers; transport researchers; fire safety engineers, control and instrumentation engineers; risk assessment managers; legislators and regulators. Papers will be presented in the following areas: Road and rail vehicles; Tunnel equipment; Operation and emergency response; and Training and research. The language of the conference will be English. Detailed reviews ofreservoir performance of selected North Sea fields, presented by specialists from the operating companies; 2. Keynote addresses concerning topicsofspecialimportance to the development ofNorth Sea reservoirs; 3. Research presentations concerning advances in North Sea reservoir science; 4. Exhibition ofpetreleum activities in the Trondheim area. Themes of the conferencewill be: Improved seismic methods for detailed reservoir description; Geological reservoir heterogeneity; Reservoir simulation; Characterization of the near-well environment; and Reservoir fundamentals and improved oil recovery.
