NEW, REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS TMS-AIME FALL MEETING: FLUID FLOW AT SOLID-LIQUID INTERFACES Philadelphia, PA, USA, 2—6 October 1983 The Solidification Committee-sponsored symposium on Fluid Flow at Solid—Liquid Interfaces will be held at the TMS—AIME Fall Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, USA, from 2—6 October 1983. Abstracts are due by 1 April 1983. Contributions are invited describing recent experimental or theoretical results on fluid flow behavior during the solidification of single or polyphase materials. These may include the effects of flow fields on solute and thermal transport, interface stability, or particle redistribution; the mani-
pulation of composition, phase uniformity and material properties by natural or forced convection (e.g., by gravitational or magnetic fields); surface tension effects; and the modeling or simulation of fluid flow phenomena. Abstracts should be sent to Dr. R.H. Hopkins, Westinghouse R&D Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15235, USA, or Professor M.E.
