Besides the numerous published scientific papers in peer reviewed journals and lectures held at conferences, Daniela was particularly active in the coordination activity of many European projects on Fire Retardance and Nanocomposites, which made her highly appreciated by the most relevant European research groups active in these topics. Daniela was very effective in her professional activity, combining hard working and demanding attitude with capability to understand and sympathise with the persons she worked with. We miss her very much and will try to learn her human lesson, keeping in our heart the image of her beautiful and encouraging smile.

Daniela Tabuani (1976–2011) Friends and colleagues wish to dedicate this volume to Daniela Tabuani, who suddenly left us just when personal life achievements and professional success were coming as deserved rewards for her enthusiastic and skilled commitment. Daniela received her PhD from the University of Genoa where she was born, and afterwards she joined the Polymer Research Group of the joint venture Turin Polyetchnic-Proplast Consortium
