BOOK REVIEW
Topics in Atomic and Nuclear Collisions Edited by B. Remaud, A. Calboreanu and V. Zoran Published by Plenum Press 1994, price US$l25.00, pp 463. This book forms part of the NATO Advanced Science Institute Series and comprises the proceedings of a meeting organised in Romania from 31 August to 11 September 1992. It consists of three loosely related sections: (1) nuclear collisions and structure, (2) atomic collisions and (3) new phenomena at high energy collisions. There are some introductory lectures by distinguished workers in the field and these are followed by more detailed discussion of specific problems. The subject of the School included phenomena that take place over a huge energy scale, spanning more than 15 orders of magnitude. In spite of their apparent diversity, these phenomena share broad unifying principles. For those carrying out research in atomic collisions from atom-atom collisions to cosmic ray interactions, this book will be useful in bringing together the latest work on the subject.
