High speed high pressure Transferring the thick pumps for Saudi Aramco sticky stuff KEPL, a sister concern of Kirloskar Brothers Limited and leaders in critical process pumps and turbines, finished testing #2500 pressure class pump designed and manufactured for Saudi ARAMCO, a Saudi Arabia base oil company. took place at Kirloskarvadi, Maharashtra which was witnessed by select officials from Thermax and Engineers India Limited (EIL). Commenting on the development, Thermax officials said, “We appreciate the quality of work and technical knowhow developed by KEPL. This will definitely increase our confidence in KEPL and the association of both the organisations. We are delighted with this experience and appreciate that even at high speed of 4483 RPM the noise of the pump without acoustic treatment is low, wherein generally such low noise level can be achievable only after acoustic treatment. “ www.kepl.in.net

Jung Process Systems has developed a special transport solution for producers of inorganic adhesives on basis of Polymer using a Hyghspin Hopper with doubleacting mechanical seal with pressurised buffer system. Transport of adhesives is viscous and sticky. Besides the high viscosity also the heavy friction losses in the piping at the suction side and a resulting very low NPSHa value demand sophisticated requirements regarding the pump to be used. Consequently the inflow of the product into the feed screw chamber is problematic. The inlet of the Hyghspin twin screw pump series, unlike the standard version this pump, is

executed as a flange because the adhesive is processed in a closed circuit. A further feature represents the execution of the pump with a double-acting mechanical seal with pressurised buffer system instead of a lip sealing. Due to admission of the mechanical seal with a barrier liquid any kind of product outlet to the environment will be avoided just as the feed medium entry between the surfaces. This solution facilitates that the highviscous feed medium falls into the feed chamber and can be transported pulsation-free and continuously without any problems.

Made entirely of corrosionresistant stainless steel, SP pumps are ideal for a wide variety of applications, such as groundwater supply to waterworks, irrigation, pressure boosting and in industry.

The new 4 in SP submersible groundwater pump range meets drinking water approvals worldwide relevant to the market where the pump is sold.

New ISO for O-ring material specification

www.grundfos.com Many of the features on the new 4 in SP pump range are taken from the range of large SP pumps. This range has been expanded from two to three sizes (with one more to follow) and is built in stainless steel, with three different material grades available, covering liquids from drinking water to seawater. From 1 January 2015 all water pumps in the scope of the European Ecodesign Directive are required to have an MEI value greater or equal than 0.40. The extended range of high-efficiency

Experts in the field of fluid power seals, Dr Nick Peppiatt and Bob Flitney, have announced the publication of a new edition of ISO 3601-5 Specification of elastomeric materials for industrial applications which introduces minimum material property data to help ensure O-ring reliability. The new standard includes tables which give a comprehensive specification of the physical properties required for O-ring materials for a variety of rubber compounds, used in fluid power applications, and several hardness grades are considered for each material.

The ISO 3601-5 was developed to reduce the number of sealing problems caused by the use of O-rings.

A paper describing the new standard in more detail can be downloaded at the British Fluid Power Association (BFPA) website. www.bfpa.co.uk/technical.asp
