Composites mailbag: Owens-Corning is committed to chopped strands The September 1995 issue of Reinforced Phtics reported Owens-Corning’s “decision to withdraw from production of 10 pm chopped strand, concentrating on just the 14 urn product.” This is not correct. Our CRATECTM chopped strands range in Europe and North America consists of 11, 14 and 17 pm products for reinforcing PA, PBT, PP, PPO, PC, BMC, etc. Thus, we are offering a wide range of products to meet our customers’ performance and price needs for their polymers. We are investing heavily today, in Europe and North America, in our latest CRATEC chopped strands process. This is the first major step to future capacity expansions which are required

site pian DSM is believed to be developing a European site plan for its resin plants. A DSM source told Reinforced Plastics that in future the company will focus on particular products at each site, rather than producing to serve its local market. The move is part of a wider plan to make DSM Resins operate as a single European entity. All locations are in the process of being linked by computer network. This will allow a special grade resin to be supplied from stock rather than having to be made to order at a local plant.

UK group gets funding for JEC THE BRITISH Plastics Federation (BPF) says that it has secured support from the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for UK companies attending next year’s JEC composite exhibition in Paris. Grants will be available to companies participating in the BPF’s British group at the show, which takes place 24-26 April.
