Ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block: description of a new technique and comparison with conventional systemic analgesia during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (BJA 2009; 102: 763– 7) The second sentence of the Results section of the abstract of this article read: ‘Patients in Group A received significantly more intraoperative sufentanil and postoperative morphine compared with those in Group B [mean (SD) 8.6 (3.5) vs 23.0 (4.8) mg, P,0.01, and 10.5 (7.7) vs 22.8 (4.3) mg, P,0.05].’ This should have read: ‘Patients in Group A received significantly less intraoperative sufentanil and postoperative morphine . . . ’ The authors apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
