MARKETS Updated profile of Russia paint industry released The IRL’s ‘A Profile of the Russian Paint Industry’ 2009 edition shows that Russia has a 800,000 tonne market for decorative paints and 510,000 tonne market for industrial coatings. General economic development and spending power will push the decorative paint sector’s future growth. The industrial coatings sector, particularly the automotive and powder coatings segments will

C OAT I N G S focus on recovering losses suffered in 2009. The market for low-VOC paints will grow on the back of the growing awareness of environmental, health and lifestyle issues. Throughout 2009, the focus was on low-quality paints and coatings. The arrival of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics will be one of the major boosters of the country’s coatings market. The Russian paint market is predicted to grow to a total of 1,687,000 tonnes in 2014 from 1,310,000 tonnes in 2009. Paint & Coatings Industry (PCI), Feb 2010, 26 (2), 8,10
