EDITORIAL

Uremia Research and Toxicity We are pleased to provide the readers of the Journal of Renal Nutrition with the Proceedings of the Seventh International Congress on Uremia Research and Toxicity, which was held in Nagoya, Japan on May 12 to 14, 2011. The Congress was sponsored by the International Society of Uremia Research and Toxicity, and it was attended by 290 clinicians and scientists from 20 countries, including Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Poland, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, and United States of America. The series of International Congresses on Uremia Research and Toxicity began in 1999, when the First Congress was held in Trieste, Italy, and was organized by Professor Gianfranco Guarnieri. The Second Congress took place in Osaka, Japan, in 2001, and was organized by Professor Yoskiki Nishizawa. The Third Congress was held in Taormina, Italy, in 2003, and was organized by Professor Guido Bellinghieri. The Fourth Congress was held in Izmir, Turkey, in 2005, and was organized by Professor Yahya Sagliker. The Fifth Congress took place in Sopot, Poland, in 2007, and was organized by Professor Boleslaw Rutkowski.

The Sixth Congress took place in Poiana Brasov, Romania, in 2009, and was organized by Professor Gabriel Mircescu. The Seventh Congress took place in Nagoya, Japan, on May 12 to 14, 2011, and was organized by Professor Toshimitsu Niwa. The Eighth Congress will take place in Reggio Calabria, Italy, during May 23 to 27, 2013, and will be organized by Professor Natale DeSanto and Vincenzo Rondanini. The Editors thank Ms. Olivia Montes for her dedicated secretarial support during the preparation of these proceedings. We trust that the readers will find these proceedings interesting and helpful.
