US Filter d e v e l o p s ion exchange membrane US Filter C o r p o r a t i o n h a s a n n o u n c e d t h e i n t r o d u c t i o n of a n ion exchange m e m b r a n e for u s e with its I o n p u r e CDI ( c o n t i n u o u s delonization) p r o d u c t line. The new p o l y e t h y l e n e - b a s e d ion e x c h a n g e m e m b r a n e exhibits b e t t e r c h e m i c a l r e s i s t a n c e , l a s t s longer, is t e m p e r a t u r e r e s i s t a n t a n d e s s e n t i a l l y i m p e r m e a b l e to water, a n d e n a b l e s the CDI s y s t e m to p r o d u c e c o n s i s t e n t , h i g h - p u r i t y w a t e r (up to 18 M Q / c m resistivity), s a y s t h e c o m p a n y . The m e m b r a n e is now available for b o t h t h e i n d u s t r i a l a n d l a b o r a t o r y CDI p r o d u c t lines. C o n t i n u o u s deionization is a p a t e n t e d p r o c e s s t h a t u s e s ion e x c h a n g e r e s i n s , ion e x c h a n g e m e m b r a n e s a n d a n electrical c u r r e n t to purify water without the u s e of h a z a r d o u s c h e m i c a l s . CDI s y s t e m s u s e electricity i n s t e a d of acid a n d c a u s t i c to continuously regenerate the resins, producing consistent, h i g h - p u r i t y water with no downtime. Although CDI is a p r o v e n technology - - a l r e a d y in u s e at over 600 i n s t a l l a t i o n s a r o u n d the world - - the new ion exchange m e m b r a n e provides u s e r s of h i g h - p u r i t y water with even longer m o d u l e life a n d -

Environmental technology exhibited The c o m b i n e d t r a d e s h o w Envirotec, a n d Scottish Water a n d Effluent T r e a t m e n t will take place at the Scottish Exhibition a n d Conference Centre in Glasgow on 8 - 9 March 1995.
