CONGENITAL CYSTIC DISEASE OF LUNG Cystic adenomatoid malformation or adenomatoid hamartoma of the lung has been reviewed. The case reported is that of a 3 pound 11 ounce premature Infant who had a successful left lower lobectomy at seven days of age. Although this Is a separate entity, there may be overlap with the other subclassifications of congenital cystic pulmonary disease! Newborn infants with this condition have severe respira-

tory distress. The roentgenogram Is diagnostic and must be done Immediately. Early removal of the tumor mass Is Imperative for these neonates may die withIn hours If untreated. HOLDER. T. M. RADIOLOGIC MANIFESTATIONS OF PULMONARY SARCOIDOSIS The author presents eIght well documented cases of pulmonary sarcoidosis which he classifies In the following four categories: (1) with a unilateral solitary filtrate (one case): (2) with dIscoid densities "confetti type" two cases: (3) with round densities, simulating metasta tic mallgnan t tumors (three

cases); (4) wi th necrotic Intrafocal cavities (two cases). He emphasizes the diftlculty In making the proper diagnosIs because of the lack of specific radiologic signs. A review of the llterature Is included. TURIAF,

USE OF ELECTRON MICROSCOPE IN THE STUDY OF BRONCHIAL CARCINOIDS The authors present a comparative study of the infrastructure of five benign. carcinoId bronchial tumors and one malIgnant digestive tumor. When osmotic acid Is used as a fixative. the usual findings are encountered but, when glutaraldehyde Is used intra-cytoplasmic granules of secretion are found.

There are a number of Interesting photomicrographs Included. VERLEY, J. M. AND KOURILSKY, R.: "Etude au Microscope Electronique des Tumeurs Carcinoides des Bronches.'· J. Fran. de Med. el de Chir. Thor., 29:37. 1965.
