DUCTNEWS Amiadexpandsproductdistributionin the US Amiad Filtration Systems, an Israeli manufacturer of water filtration devices for industrial and agricultural applications, is exptinding its product distribution in the United States. The company manufactures a wide variety of screen filtration systems with manual or automatic self-cleaning capabilities. These systems are able to filter solids and organic materials ranging from 3500 to 25 pm in size, and can accommodate flow rates up to 4400 gal/min; with its manifold systems, unlimited
flow rates can be achieved. Amiad claims to have the widest variety of automatic water filtration systems available anywhere, and for 10 years has served other markets in the US, but has not had a strong presence in the industrial markets. It has therefore expanded its North American warehouse and distribution facilities, and is now making an effort to capture industrial, wastewater treatment and municipal markets. Amiad has also introduced its EBS Series filters. These are electronically
monitored and controlled, so that minimum water and time is wasted during the cleaning cycle. The system cuts downtime for cleaning, and there is no interruption of flow during flushing. Sized from 8 to 14 inch, and with an ability for modularity, these filter systems are available with a number of choices in filtration degrees - from 3500 down to 25 pm; they also offer two methods of automatic cleaning. The coarse filtration method employs stainless-steel brushes driven by a 1.5 hp electric
On-lineparticlecountingsoftwarefor watertreatment Paciiic Scientific Company’s Hiac/Royco Division has announced a new, easy-to-use on-line particle-counting software and hardware system designed for the potable water industry. The new AccuCount software is Windows-based for the PC, and is used with online laser sensors for particle counting. It performs real-time data acquisition from the sensors for particle counts, as well as from 4 - 20 mA devices - such as turbidity meters, streamingcurrent meters, chlorine analysers and pH meters. AccuCount offers up to four channels of size information for each on-line sensor, and provides the real-time readings in numerical and graphical formats.
Log removal information is also performed in real time, both in numeric and ratioof-removal graphs. Counts can be displayed in either differential or cumulative form. An on-screen facility map displays the current condition of all the monitored points. Alarm limits can be set by the user of each point, and will flash if limits are exceeded or fall below specified parameters. Any alarm will trigger a printed report, indicating the alarm conditions and locations, and warning the user of any potential breakthrough. A full set of reports for printing is also available. motor. The brushes revolve along the filter screen, removing the filter cake, which is then automatically discharged through a flushing valve. The fine filtration method uses a suction scanner that scans the filter screen in a spiral motion and virtually vacuums away the filter cake. This combination of high flow and versatility in filtration capabilities makes the EBS filters very suitable for use in food processing plants, cooling tower applications, process manufacturing, steel and paper mills, and water treatment where large flow capacities are necessary.
