Filters for contrast e ummm ent A range of optical grade acrylic illtars, which provide a high degree of contrast enhancement for emissive devices, has been launched. Christened 'Chromalite', the filters are available as standard 300 mm × 200 rnrn panels or in nonstandard sizes, and in a variety of thicknesses. Typical of the range is Chromalite 13, a red, high contrast enhancement acrylic available in l.Smm thickness. It is precoated with the company's anti-glare coating,

Grovecote, and is supplied covered with a protective sheet. It is suitable for standard or high efficiency, red LEDs, while the low-cost panel rates allow engineers to test economically the filter before specifying it for production. The filters are designed to accept not only traditional LEDs and CRTs, but also the new generation of optoelectronic technology, with special grades suitable for vacuum fluorescent, incandescent and plasma devices.

The filters are available in a wide range of colours, including standard and high density reds, greys, clear and greens, or to special order in any possible colours or colour combinations. Each grade has the best possible transmission characteristics for its preferred style of light emitting device -- combining maximum readAhiliW with reduced ambient light reflection. The filters also conceal unattractive drive circuitry and mounting hardware. O~venor V ~ M//mead /ndusm~ Centre, M_/2/Mead Road, Ferry Lane, To~erdmm, London N17

the need for two polarizers. Normal twisted nematic LCDs often cannot b e read from an oblique angle, from a distance, or in other than ideal light conditions. Black Shutter is available in two versions. The first is designed to meet the requirements of the automotive industry and is suitable for use in temperatures between -30°C and +800C. The secovJ:[ system is suitable for use in consumer goods such as cookers, washing machines, clocks and office automarion equipment, and has art application range between -10°C and +60°C.
