VII INTERNATIONAL HEAT PIPE CONFERENCE The Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute, Byelorussian Academy of Sciences, Minsk, USSR 21-25 May 1990 The main aim of the conference is to foster the exchange of ideas and experience between scientists and engineers working in the field of heat and mass transfer and thermal engineering. The VII IHPC will provide an opportunity to review the state-of-the-art of the new processes and technology of heat pipes and closed, two phase heat transfer systems. TOPICS

Basic processes and fundamentals 1. Heat and mass transfer with phase changes. 2. Hydrodynamics of vapour and liquid flows under the influence of different mass forces (gravity, capillary, centrifugal, etc.) with mass suction and injection. 3. Counter current liquid/vapour flows. Heat pipes and thermosyphons. Theoretical and experimen~tal studies 1. 2. 3. 4.

Gravity assisted heat pipes and thermosyphons. Zero gravity heat pipes as an aerospace component. Heat pipe engines. Special types of heat pipes.

Material problems and heat pipe technology 1. Materials compatibility. 2. Corrosion phenomena. 3. Life testing. 4. Manufacturing technology. State of the art and safety problems of heat pipe and heat pipe engines in various countries 1. Invited papers. 2. Round table (recent advances in heat pipes and heat exchangers). Space, commercial and scientific applications 1. Spacecraft thermal control. 2. Space experiments, in-orbit performance analysis. 3. Heat recovery and ecology problems. 4. Electricity and electronics. 5. Solar and terrestrial energy storage. 6. Special applications. A scientific exhibition will be mounted at the conference and the conference language will be English. CALL FOR PAPERS Papers for presentation at the conference will be selected on the basis of extended abstracts of 300-500 words. The abstracts should outline the major points of interest in the paper and selection of the papers will be made on the basis of general interest of the subject matter, quality of the content, originality and clarity. Anyone interested in attending the conference and submitting a paper should write to: 7th IHPC Local Organizing Committee, The Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute, BSSR Academy of Sciences, P.
