The Color Safe process, a part finishing process that produces a highquality, deep black finish at room temperature without the use of EPAregulated chemicals, can be used on all nonstainless steel ferrous alloys including cast iron and tool steels, and can serve as direct replacement for the conventional hot oxide finish. No waste treatment is needed with the Color Safe process because it utilizes only specially formulated Birchwood Casey solutions of low toxicity containing no EPA-regulated chemicals.
