both written (two volumes) and audio form, announce the organizers, the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI). In 20 sessions over the three-day conference, 170 experts presented papers on all aspects of current and f&ure trends and developments in plastics materials, plastics moulding and composites, as well as equipment and recycling. The cost of the two volumes is $75.00 plus shipping and handling costs. At $10.00 extra (plus shipping and handling) the NPE 1997 official show directory is also available. Indexed according to topic, it lists the 1726 companies which participated in the exhibition, with addresses, telephone and fax numbers and contact persons. Who makes what in Europe A useful listing of European suppliers of additives and plastics is set out in Winterplas 1. It gives generic names of the chemicals and cross-referencing to suppliers, polymers, with a parallel list of brand names. Names and addresses of suppliers (and also some contact information on technical and commercial personnel) is set out country by country, with the main products on offer. The method of classification appears to be to list companies only under the country in which they are headquartered (which may militate against the overall aim of making it easier to find local suppliers), while the inclusion of only two companies under the classification of Compounders makes that section irrelevant. Nevertheless, at DM98, or DM 148 for a CD-ROM version it wiil be a valuable addition
