ORGANIZA’TIONSAND EVENTS 1. Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Office - The European Patent Practice Com-
mittee set-up under the Council of the Institute held its last meeting on 19th February, in Basle. Items on the agenda relating to patent information and documentation were: copies of references accompanying the search report of the EPO (Art. 92 (2) EPC) and the presentation of information in the EPC-Bulletin. With regard to the latter, there is dissatisfaction with a number of present entries.
The third workinggroup replaces the former Expert Working Group on Information from Patent Documents of the Permanent Committee for Development Cooperation Related to Industrial Property, with the mandate to deal with tasks concerning the identification of needs of developing countries in the field of patent information and to make proposals on ways and means of meeting such needs.
2. Interim Committee for the Community Patent - The working group I of the Committee held its fourth meeting on S/6 April in Brussels. Items on the agenda related to patent information were: the Register for Community Patents, and the Publications foreseen under the terms of the Community Patent Convention (CPC). As regards the Register, specific questions in relation to the inscriptions foreseen under rule 31(l) and (2), and under Article 64(2) of the CPC as well as the problem of the technical realization of the register were discussed. The item Publications had to be deferred to the meeting of October. 3. The Administrative Council of the European Patent Organization, on its fifth meeting of 14/17 of May in Munich has decided to give access to the EPO’s documentation via EURONET. 4. FZDIPD, the Patent Information and Documentation Committee ofFZD, held its sixth meeting in Luxembourg on 718 May. A new action programme was discussed and passed. This implied the establishment of workinggroups for the areas of responsibility and competence of the EPO, the WIPO and the Commission of the EEC. 5. WZPO - The Permanent Committee on Patent Information (PCPI) has scheduled the following meetings of its experts working groups: - Working group on Search Information (2/6 of June) - Working group on General Information (25/29 of June) - Working group on Patent Information for Developing Countries (1 l/14 of September). All of the meetings take place in Geneva. The first working group has the mandate to deal with tasks concerning search file organization and maintenance, including IPC revivion matters and search system development. The second working group has the mandate to deal with tasks such as those concerning standards and other related matters not appropriate to the two other working groups. World Patent
