Report

Maltose is separated from glucose and other polysaccharides by adsorption on dealuminated Y zeolites (6-9 Al atoms/unit cell) and desorption with HzO. A Y zeolite with 15 Al atoms/unit cell separated disaccharides from higher saccharides, but did not separate maltose from glucose.

High-density powder detergent compositions showing good u.v.induced discoloration resistance were prepared by coating powdered mixtures of anionic and nonionic surfactants and fluorescent brighteners with zeolite A powder (average particle diameter < 10 microns) and placed in a transparent plastic container with 350 nm light transmittance < 1%. The detergent showed no discoloration even after one month in outdoor storage test.

Spongy Pb anodes of sealed Pb-acid batteries contain 2-10 wt.% crystalline zeolite. The addition of zeolite enhances the absorption of 0 and supresses the evolution of H. When cycled at I-A charging for 60 minutes and 0.8-A discharging to 10.8-V cutoff, batteries [I2 V, 10-h rate capacity 1 .O A-h) using anodes of the invention had longer cycle lives than batteries using anodes without zeolite.

Granular compositions are prepared that contain finely divided bleach activator, an inert, non-alkaline, P-free, water-soluble salt, a water-soluble film-forming polymer, and a smectite or aluminosilicate clay material. The granules are useful in the preparation of detergent bleach compositions that have good storage stability and provide good bleaching activity during laundering. The granules were added (3%) to a P-free laundry detergent containing 30% zeolite and 4% N(CHzCOzNa)s as builders and 5.5% Na perborate monohydrate.

compositions

Detergent bleach compositions are prepared that contain a detergent-active material, a carbonate builder, seed crystals for CaCOs (e.g. calcite) and peroxggen bleaching agent as well as granules comprising a bleach activator 5(r-90, an inert nonphosphate salt 5-45, and a film-forming polymer containing few or no carboxy groups l-15 wt.%. The granules do not affect the ability of the seed crystals to decrease water hardness. Crystalline zeolite builders can be used instead of the carbonate builder-seed crystal system.
