Hydraulic Institute appoints Watson-Marlow Pumps next executive director Group renamed The Hydraulic Institute (HI) has named Michael Michaud as its new executive director. Michaud comes to the HI from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), where he is currently managing director, Global Alliances. He will replace Bob Asdal, who retires in June 2015. Meanwhile, the HI has announced its board of directors and officers for 2015–16. George Harris, president and CEO of Hydro Inc, has been elected chairman of the board. John White Jr, CEO of Taco Inc, will serve as HI president, and vice president, Government & Regulatory Affairs. Michael Cropper, director, product devel-
opment, Sulzer Pumps (US) Inc, remains vice president, Technical Affairs, while Bob Hendricks, president of Flowserve Corp’s Industrial Pump Operations, continues as vice president, Member Services. Jeff Bredeson, senior vice president, Region Americas at Wilo USA, is HI’s vice president, Knowledge & Education. Watson-Marlow Pumps Group has changed its name to WatsonMarlow Fluid Technology Group to better reflect its expanded portfolio of fluid technologies. Over recent years, Watson-Marlow has moved beyond its traditional peristaltic pump business with the additions of MasoSine, Flexicon, BioPure and non-pump transfer tubing development. John Crane has secured a frame agreement to supply mechanical seals and systems for Kuwait National Petroleum Co’s (KNPC) Clean Fuels Project. The KNPC Clean Fuels Project is a major initiative to upgrade the Mina Al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdulla refineries in Kuwait.
The frame agreement covers the mechanical seals and systems used for more than 530 critical pumps at the Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery. Engineering services, commissioning support and technical training are also covered under the agreement. www.johncrane.com
