Sixty-fourth Annual meeting of The American Association for Thoracic Surgery was held in New York City, May 7-9, 1984. The President, Dr. Dwight C. McGoon, presented the Presidential Address entitled "A Laboratory for Progress," which was very well received. The Honored Guest Speaker was Dr. Adib D. Jatene of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Jatene presented an address entitled "Left Ventricular Aneurysmectomy: Resection or Reconstruction?" There were 1,059 physicians registered for the Scientific Session.
