bers’ perioperative practice. Chapters are integral to bringing AORN’s vision, mission, and core values to hospitals, health care facilities, schools of nursing, and local communities. The Chapter Excellence Awards recognize and spotlight chapter accomplishments in a variety of areas. Chapters in each size category (ie, small, medium, intermediate, large) will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards. One Gold-winning chapter will be selected as Chapter of the Year, representing the best submission among all size categories. Members of each chapter applying for an award have developed presentations in the format of their choosing that best describe an outstanding project, activity, service, program, or collection of activities. Submissions should reflect activities or programs conducted between April 1, 2008, and January 1, 2009. All chapter excellence presentations should convey the effect and outcome of the project or activity on the chapter, the community, or the profession of perioperative nursing. Entries are judged by the AORN Awards Committee. For more information about individual or chapter awards, please contact Marian Burrell, project coordinator, via e-mail at mburrell@aorn .org, or call (800) 755-2676 x 275.

WRITERS CONTEST AWARDS The Writers Contest Awards recognize authors of quality AORN Journal articles. Four article categories are included in this contest— clinical, education, management, and research. For an article to be considered, at least one author of a manuscript must be an RN and an AORN member. All Journal authors whose articles meet this requirement and whose articles are published during the calendar year preceding Congress are eligible for the contest. Winning articles in each category are chosen based on points awarded by Journal editors, review panel members, and Editorial Board members. © AORN, Inc, 2009
