Giving a paper at RP Asia 97 THE CALL for papers is currently underway, with the submission deadline for papers being 15 January 1997. Authors are requested to submit two copies of abstracts in English. Authors must ensure that they submit abstracts according to these instructions: 1. Prepare on A4 paper with margins of 2.5 em, not over one page in length. 2. Use single spacing throughout,not exceeding 300 words including title, name(s), of author(s) and affliiation(s). 3. Indicate up to six authors' names and initials; if more, use 'et al'. Give name of company/ institution where main work was done. 4. Indicate with (') presenting authors. 5. Include four keywords describing key advances identified in the paper. AU papers will be refereed and a criterion of rejection will be lack of originality. A condition of submission is that, if accepted, the paper will be presented at Reinforced Plastics Asia 97 by the author or one of the co-authors. Submissions should include a separate sheet giving full name, address, fax and e-mail details of the submitting author. Please state whether oral or poster presentation is preferred and the name of the presenting authors with contact details. RP Asia selects Singapore as its location

Reinforced Plastics to sponsor Asian conference ASIA currentlyaccountsfor around 25% of the world composites market and by the end of the decade will be bigger thanEurope. The technologies used are often underdeveloped compared with those used in the west, but the demand for information on more sophisticated processes is enormous. Reinforced Plastics Asia 97 will provide this information to an audience of Asian composites entrepreneurs,using Reinforced Plastics' highly successful format of up-to-date technical and market information. The programme will revolve around the theme of: The ChalJenge for the Composites Industry in South East Asia.

The conference, to be held on 18-19 September 1997, will cover aU facets of the composites industry, particularly the technical and marketing skills and knowledge Asian companies currentlyrequire to compete with the west. Papers for oral or poster presentation are being invited on the topics of: end uses of composites suitable for development in the Asian market; composites manufacturing/ processing technology available for development/ license in Asia; market trends and opportunities for composites in Asia; and materials to enable Asian composites manufacturers to realize new markets and applications.

RP ASIA 97 will be held in Singapore at the Mandarin hotel. The hotel is centrally located in the main business, shopping and entertainment district, so that delegates will have the opportunity to see this multi-culturalcity for themselves. The hotel has a range of banquet and convention facilities, with 1200 rooms and suites, located in its twin towers. The Mandarin also has a number of restaurants,featuring both Continental and Asian cuisines, as well as extensive sporting amenities for its guests. Details of the hotel will be included in the regiStration brochure.
