EACMFS Prizes and Awards The Council of EACMFS wishes to ensure that all members of the Association are aware of the current awards and prizes that are available. These are designed to provide educational support and also to allow the opportunity for trainees and those who have recently achieved specialist status to visit units outside their own departments. Leibinger Prize Award of the Leibinger Prize is designed to support a period of targeted education & training away from the host programme of the successful candidate. The prizes will be awarded every two years. The awards are restricted to Trainee Members of EACMFS (and those who have successfully completed training as specialists within three years of the date of application) and are made on the recommendation of the Endowment Committee ratified by the Executive Committee and reported to the Council. Applicants should submit a completed application form with detailed curriculum vitae highlighting career aspirations and contributions already made to the specialty together with details of the programme to be visited, the aims and objectives and the gains anticipated. The educational programme to be visited should be chosen from a list of approved teaching European centres which will be provided by EACMFS. This prize allows active participation in clinical patient care and normally be of not more than three months duration. Signed approval by the host and visiting programme directors is mandatory and it is strongly recommended that prospective candidates seek advice and approval from the respective national bodies supervising the training programmes. Successful candidates will be required to submit a written report to the Secretary General not more than three months after return from the host unit. The Prizes will be presented and the successful candidates introduced at a high profile event in the main auditorium during the biennial EACMFS Congress. BIOMET 3i Grant for Implantology A 4 Day Implant Dentistry Training Program Course at New York University will be made to available to any member to foster the education of oral & maxillofacial surgeons in the use and enhanced applications of osseointegrated implants. Trainee candidates for the award should be in the final year of their programme and should have completed training by the time of taking up the grant. The winner will be officially announced and introduced at a high profile event during the EACMFS Congress. Candidates should apply to the Secretary General of the Association before 30 June of each year highlighting their interest in implantology and what they aim to achieve on the award of grant. Prof John Lowry Congress Scholarship These scholarships made on a competitive basis on the recommendation of the Endowment Committee are designed to support Trainee Members of EACMFS (and those who have successfully completed training as specialists within three years of the date of application) in their participation in the biennial Congress of the Association. Future Congresses will be held in Prague 23–26th September 2014 and London 13–16th September 2016. THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD OF 500 EUROS SHOULD BE USED FOR THE REGISTRATION FEE AND THE REMAINDER TOWARDS TRAVEL/ ACCOMMODATION. Candidates should have submitted an abstract for the presentation of a paper or poster in the main scientific programme and a copy of this and its acceptance is required with the application. The deadline for the applications will be on the 1st June preceding the Congress. Applications should be made to the Secretary General on the standard application form available from the Secretariat and also on the EACMFS website at www.eurofaces.com. Full details of the planned visit will be required together with a letter from the host unit confirming the arrangements and signed approval of the head of department of the current post. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that approval for leave of absence has been obtained from the employing authority. EACMFS will not be responsible for the payment of locum-tenens fees at any time and

The Helene Matras Scholarship In a further endeavour to promote educational exchange a Prize will be awarded to the participant who at the conclusion of each course of the Educational Programmes in Poland, Romania and Skopje is judged by the teaching faculty to have performed to the highest level in the final assessment. To be eligible for the award candidates should be Trainee Members of EACMFS (or specialists within 3 years of successfully completing training) and have attended each session of the course for which the Scholarship is to be awarded. Rosalind Dancygier Travelling Fellowship (UCLH) This scholarship is designed to support a period of fellowship head & neck oncology training at the Maxillofacial Surgical Unit of University College London Hospital (UCLH) is available to Trainee Members of EACMFS and those who have successfully completed training as specialists within three years of the date of application. Applications should be made on the standard application form available from the Secretariat and also on the EACMFS website at www.eurofaces.com. Applicants should submit a detailed curriculum vitae highlighting career aspirations and contributions already made to the specialty together with the aims, objectives and the gains anticipated from the fellowship. The fellowship will allow active participation in clinical care and normally be of not more than three months duration. Endowment Committee The Endowment Committee of the Association oversees all applications in order to ensure fair distribution of scholarships and the presentation of speedy recommendations to the Executive Committee. Advice on all applications is available from the Secretariat of the Association.

EACMFS Fellowships EACMFS Fellowships are available for our members who hold a valid license to practise medicine and are qualified specialists in maxillofacial surgery. These Fellowships aim to help those colleagues who have a special interest either in facial aesthetic/cosmetic surgery, cleft/ craniofacial surgery, or head & neck oncology and are eager to achieve competency in all the aspects of the chosen subspecialty. They shall widen the individual’s experience of living abroad for a year (or more) whilst working in a centre accredited by the Association and/or the special Fellowship Committee. A limited financial support is offered to cover travelling costs as well as lodging for the first week in the city of the host centre for a maximum of three fellows per year per subspecialty. Criteria for an EACMFS-Fellowship: 1. The applicant should be a member of EACMFS. 2. The applicant should be a qualified specialist in maxillofacial surgery according to the regulations to be applicable in his/ her home country – or the country in which he/she has acquired speciality training. 3. The Fellowship Centre should be accredited by EACMFS. The host centre shall enable the applicant to examine patients pre- and postoperatively and offer participation as a surgeon, co-surgeon or assisting surgeon. 4. Temporary leave from the home centre should have been made possible by the chairperson and the bureau of administration of that centre. 5. Interest in the chosen surgical subspecialty has to be clearly demonstrated, ideally by defining a research project to be initiated or pursued in the chosen centre. 6. The Fellow shall maintain a surgical logbook for the time spent in the host centre. 7. Financial resources should be made available for covering the one-(or more)-year's stay at the host centre, either by a remunerated position funded by either the home centre or the host centre, or by a grant that will enable the applicant to perform a study while staying at the host centre. In any case, the Fellow is to prepare a scientific study at the host centre focussing on a topic concerning the maxillofacial subspecialty in question and which has to be submitted to the Journal of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery. 8. Reports are to be sent to the EACMFS Secretariat after the first 6 months and at the conclusion of the Fellowship (including the logbook) and consequently an EACMFS Fellowship Certificate will be awarded to the Fellow. When applying, a complete CV, a certified log book of the operations performed during the residency, and a list of scientific publications (co-)authored by the applicant plus written proof of all the above shall be addressed to the EACMFS Secretariat.
