Cancer Cells Removed with Antibody-Linked Magnetic Microspheres A cell separation technique employing magnetite-containing polystyrene microspheres conjugated with anti-neuroblastoma cell monoclonal antibodies has been applied to remove neuroblastoma cells from bone marrow by John T. Kemshead of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund's oncology laboratory at the Institute of Child Health in London, in collaboration with Alan R e m b a u m of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA. The method for preparing antibody-coupled magnetic microspheres was described in 1979 by S. Margel, S. Zisblatt and A. R e m b a u m in this journal, Vo. 28, pp. 341-353.
